Hurrah. Junior year of college is over, and I think I actually did well this semester despite the bajillion news stories I had to write. We'll see if journalism really is my thing.

The campus is relatively quiet. Still a lot of party kids around, but most of my friends are gone. And I am going home tomorrow, but before I do, here is a short photo essay!

So yea, college really is a lot of fun and games, but those fun and games force you to write unorganized 2am papers.

And is doesn't help that youre diet isnt great. Last week, I ate a personal record five straight meals of various kinds of pizza. I think I ended the streak with either Burger King or hot wings. Either one doesnt really make your diet better...

And when I'm tired of writing that 2am paper, I actually take a break by doing dishes. Tyler would argue that this doesn't happen THAT often, which is probably true. But yea, apartments equal tons of dishes. Even if you eat out everyday.

But my most common breaktime activity is looking at people's profiles and away messages compulsively. Like, three times in twenty minutes. And you know, sadly, it's still the same away message, yet I keep checking if its different...

and finally, laundry laundry laundry. This picture is old. My laundry stack is now an extra two feet high. And I'm not kidding folks. I think one week equals two feet in the hamper. But hey, here's looking forward to next year with a washer and dryer in my apartment.

but for now, summer!

the new taf site is amazing. I'm quite proud of our little camp.

So yea, has anyone else noticed how people leave messages for other people in their profiles? It's the newest form of communication. E-mail, IM's, cell phones and text-messages are once again not enough to talk to each other.

but oh man, how burned would you feel if you got dumped that way? Ouch.

But you know, some of you might have already read this on my info. Which illustrates my point. You know you're all addicted to reading every away message. I should just start making blog entries in my profile. Or I should patent the idea of publishing blog entries into profiles...

anyways, a picture post should be coming soon.

I Power Blogger.

hmm. this new blogger interface is odd. but anyways, summer is almost here for the tafCrush kids. Three of us, Ming, Roger, and I, will be spending a majority of our summer in Taiwan. So come play with us.

Ming is leaving the 16th, I'm leaving the 19th, and Roger is leaving the 23rd.

But yes, as the year finishes here, I leave you with this amazing picture of our Vice President, or Secretary, of tafCrush.

i heart Friends forever and ever.

its hard to imagine that I watched that show when I was like...ten. ten years old. thats like, SO long ago. I dont even want to comprehend what has changed in those ten years. But somehow i still watch a lot of freakin Friends...

anyways. i have a final tomorrow at 8am. and then my other final is next friday at 8am. so i have a full week between finals. yay for not doing anything for a week!

HOW IN THE WORLD HAS IT BEEN TEN YEARS SINCE I FIRST WATCHED FRIENDS?!? it seems like yesterday...

Thats a large amount of people...holy...

So yes...its Music from the O.C. Mix 1. Since I'm O.C. obsessed (and soon to be Meteor Garden obsessed) i decided to listen to it. and its GOOD.

You should listen to:

Alexi Murdoch - Orange Sky
Finley Quaye - Dice
Jem - Just a Ride
88 - How Good It Can Be
Spoon - The Way We Get by
Joseph Arthur - Honey and the Moon

and its not on the cd, but Mandy Moore and Jonathan Foreman - Someday We'll Know is good too...cheesy and some random lyrics...but good and catchy...

yes.

So in the past six months, ive covered this much of the United States by car or plane.

create your own personalized map of the USA

Other than Springfield and Champaign, since July I've driven through at least TWENTY states. I've slept in FOURTEEN different cities. In total, at least 21 seperate trips because of 3 trips to chicago, 5 to stl, and 2 to ann arbor. A friend made a very good point when he asked me if I ever went home, because I don't.

I get feelings of missing home often now. I miss walking out of my door to my car parked in my driveway. I miss home run derby at rotary. I miss adriennes couch. I miss driving on veterans parkway and monroe with the windows down. I miss Washington Park Tennis Courts. Im old kids. Im moving on. I have a summer away from home coming up too in Taiwan. But nothing is ever what it used to be. Everything is what you make of it kids. Everything is what you make of it.

I need time to reflect. You all should too. But as for myself, I can't see myself doing that in the next few months. When did I get so busy?

Ruth Ann took me to Chic-Fil-A today for dinner. Or breakfast, if you consider it being my first meal after waking up three hours earlier at 330. Anyways, I was hungy. And I felt like ordering a lot of nuggets and sharing them with Ruth Anns roommates, so I had to choose between purchasing my own 12-pack of nuggets for $3.69 or a 50-count party platter for $15. Now I can't do math THAT fast in my head, especially with decimals, but I thought I could by nuggets in bulk and get them cheaper that way. But you do the math. It's 30 cents per nugget either way. And I got way too many nuggets.

Tomorrow:
- Chic-fil-a for breakfast. No joke. Ruth Ann is taking me.
- Maybe I should give Donald and others a call...
- and of course...SWEET SIXTEEN BABY!!!

I-L-L! I-N-I!

haha ok ok ok. so i know that in my last post i said, "i'm off on another road trip tomorrow. but ohhh! no tafers this time. i think...haha." but you know. fate always has a funny way of leading you to tafers.

right now im sitting in ruth ann's living room in atlanta blogging away.

Soooo...yesterday I was in North Carolina watching a baseball game with my roadtrip mates, and we all have a friend who lives down here in atl, and he says he has tickets to the Illinois(!) vs. Duke basketball game. now that my friends, is a good thing. so we all decided to come to atlanta to watch the game on friday. awwww yea! and as the added bonus, i get to hang out here in atl! BOOYAH!

and another fun thing was calling davef on ruth ann's phone in her room, him being confused to hear my deep manly voice after reading "ruth ann" on caller id, and then ruth ann calling liz wang from my cell phone, while she was in daves room with dave! haha, oh man, that was CLASSIC. everyone should go do that. imagine how weird/cool it was to hear ruth ann talking next to liz, and being able to hear liz responding in the background while im on the phone with dave. and then switching back and forth and being able to hear all these conversations. i might not have described it that well, but trust me, it was one of those good classic taf laughing moments. oh yea oh yea.

and im done. ill update again later.

*edit*

ok back on an update...

unbelievably large piece of crap

ok to look at this with somewhat of an open mind...its probably no different that the ghettopoly boardgames. but still. id be typing expletives right now. and i dont normally do that.

visitors this weekend were good. although, sad i could not spend more time with some. but hey, theres a rhyme to every reason right? ive been "missing" people lately. not that im lonely or anything, in fact alone time is good. but, im trying to not take past friends and the good memories that they provided for granted.

pictures will be up from itasa and this weekend.

i hope you all had a wonderful time and enjoyed your weekends.

High School Sweethearts to a Married Couple

CONGRATULATIONS SAM AND LINDSEY!!!

ah yes. happy i was made today to hear the news that 2 good friends are getting married. haha, i giggled like a little school girl when jenifer told me in advertising. but yes, to the newly engaged Lindsey Miller and Samuel Culli!

the left pic is from, i think, winter 2000. on the right is summer 2003.

so ive known linz since well...you know i dont actually know exactly, its been that long. we went to Butler elementary school together and so on. and then we all met sam at SHS. and then you guys started dating senior year. haha, you know what? i still remember the first time i thought you two liked each other. It was during a rehearsal for bye bye birdie. i was standing on stage doing something and i turned my shoulder and i saw you two sitting togther, away from all the others talking to each other. who knew eh? a few days later you guys called me up to see what i was doing, AFTER going to magic kitchen alone. hahahahaha. thats awesome.

i could probably rave about old memories and whatnot, but i'll leave it at this. you guys are my first good friends to be getting married so im a wee bit excited, but yes, not as much as you two i'm sure.

God gave you two legs to walk, two eyes to see, two ears to hear, and two hands to hold, but why did He only give you one heart?

Because He gave the other one to someone for you to find.

Good job guys, you found each other.

congratulations : )

this is traumatic. and stressful. sigh. goodbye thendxcrd.

so i need a new screenname. aol is being cancelled at the lee household. and someone mean at aol wont let you keep your old screennames. boo on them. its kind of sad how sad i actually am. thendxcrd has been my online persona for 7 years. SEVEN YEARS. thats a long time man.

i have till the end of the week to say my goodbyes and notify everyone. this part is actually stressful. gotta tell people i dont normally talk to but i might in a time of need. gotta notify people of new email addresses. and of course, gotta think of a new name.

my first idea was Jonizzle. not too shabby, some ppl call me it already. the next idea was given to me by marge, thendxcrrd. i kinda like it, the double rr's remind me of "right therre" and other hip lingo. but it might be too close to the original. too much like a "replacement" rather than an "alternative".

sigh.

i am too sad over something that shouldnt be that big of a deal. but i guess its evident that i'm a child of the 21st century.

thats just the way it is. things'll never be the same.

oh no. i did not just quote lyrics from a song in a post about my screenname.

Temperment Sorter

this was good for the ego:

Free report for: Jonathan

You are an Artisan (SP)

Artisans are the temperament with a natural ability to excel in any of the arts, not only the fine arts such as painting and sculpting, or the performing arts such as music, theater, and dance, but also the athletic, military, political, mechanical, and industrial arts, as well as the "art of the deal" in business.

Artisans are most at home in the real world of solid objects that can be made and manipulated, and of real-life events that can be experienced in the here and now. Artisans have exceptionally keen senses, and love working with their hands. They seem right at home with tools, instruments, and vehicles of all kinds, and their actions are usually aimed at getting them where they want to go, and as quickly as possible. Thus Artisans will strike off boldly down roads that others might consider risky or impossible, doing whatever it takes, rules or no rules, to accomplish their goals. This devil-may-care attitude also gives the Artisans a winning way with people, and they are often irresistibly charming with family, friends, and co-workers.

Artisans want to be where the action is; they seek out adventure and show a constant hunger for pleasure and stimulation. They believe that variety is the spice of life, and that doing things that aren't fun or exciting is a waste of time. Artisans are impulsive, adaptable, competitive, and believe the next throw of the dice will be the lucky one. They can also be generous to a fault, always ready to share with their friends from the bounty of life. Above all, Artisans need to be free to do what they wish, when they wish. They resist being tied or bound or confined or obligated; they would rather not wait, or save, or store, or live for tomorrow. In the Artisan view, today must be enjoyed, for tomorrow never comes.

Atisans make up between 15 to 20 percent of the population, which is good, because they create much of the beauty, grace, fun, and excitement the rest of us enjoy in life.

haha yay i make life fun for the rest of you. thats actually a personal philosophy that i have tried to uphold for a long time. interesting eh?

wow. this article is sad. not sad like oh the world is terrible, but sad that its actually a top story. from my hometown newspaper nonetheless.

I cant believe they would write about Chicken Tuesday. i mean ok, i'll admit, in high school i loved that lunch day too and i looked forward to it, but the girl who was sick, was going to stay home, but then DECIDED to go to school because it was Chicken Tuesday...thats just sad. I guess thats how you get kids to go to school at lanphier though, offer them chicken (haha ok that was mean). but yes, i shake my head in pity.

or maybe im just mad they wrote about Chicken Tuesday at that high school instead of mine.

Go Springfield High.

and on a sidenote, how about them fighting illini?!?! Man we WHOOPED msu.

to avoid dropping to the stagnant list on wils blog...i feel compelled to write. so yea.

im particulary angry that harry didnt go after cho more. she liked him. he liked her. what were you thinking harry, go after that. or maybe i wanted it to happen because when i pictured cho, i imagined her as someone i know. and i wanted to live vicariously through harry. i kinda want cho. but oh, inquisitive minds, who dost one think jon's cho is?

in semi-related news, i might hitch a ride down to st. louis next weekend with julie and roger etc. but yes, next weekend, which includes...valentines day. as much fun as it usually is, i'm hesitant to go down and spend that day with the kids. i think i would much rather prefer to sit alone in my apartment and sulk about having no valentine to call my own. oh how sad is that? but have no fear stl, i still might come. the one power that can overcome a college student in a state of woebegone love?

free laundry at someone's house.

tomorrow: REALLY going to itasa ec in ct.
currently: in harmony's basement after missing my flight.

well heres a nice big picture post.

so i went up to chicago with U of I TASC to play in an ITASA Bball tournament held at Northwestern. The U of I TASC team was the favorite, mainly because of their height advantage. Here you can see Alex shooting over a Umich defender. Bryan and Carolyn cant stop him. They could only hope to contain him.

Calvin and Truman kept score

While Amy, Bryan (who you know, was sitting out now), and Roger watched in awe.

After the tournament we all ate some wings, alex bryan and timmy waited anxiously

Michelle and Joy wanted a picture together, and i took a few but this is the one they decided to keep. odd. michelle actually smiled in the other ones, but they werent good enough. so i guess she just likes this face of hers better...haha...

the next day it was snowing like a mofo

so carolyn warmed up with bubble tea from joy yees. she said the bubble tea was good, so, you know, maybe she just didnt like something else.

We ate deep dish pizza. Ming had spilled one massive slice into his cup of water, which in turn spilled onto the table. he was very distraught.

after the meal, we split ways and umich went back to umich. we slept at rogers. it was fun. whee. the next day we got sushi at mitsuwa. it too, was good. Jeanette Ming and Jon agree.

and then tonight! the internet amazes me. I got to webcam and audio with jessica and linda. technology IS amazing. yea!

but wizards and broomsticks and quidditch are cool too. harry potter 3 almost finished.

so i got into the school of broadcast journalism here at U of I. thats a positive, i guess i kind of actually have some direction in what im going to do with my life. even though i might just open up a restaurant with brian for a bit after college. yea weve got some high quality ideas, let me tell you.

yea...

i dont know if i have anything else of importance to say. oh but if you are going to be attending ITASA East Coast 2004, talk to me. id like to talk to you. har har har.

gah.

oh, yes. i cant comment on xangas for some weird reason. my computer wont let me. if you happen to read this angie, you had a ridiculously big worded paragraph. i was dumbfounded by the sheer verbiage of the text AND context of what you were analyzing about the current state of suburbia and the relative mediocrity of repetition...? does that make sense...?

right...

i want a prime rib in kc.

i am home.

the past 10 days somehow turned into one really lengthy TAF roadtrip for jon, even bigger than Novembers tafCrush Roadtrip I.

i dont feel like saying much, other than i had a great time throughout. Kudos to Jessica Amy and Christine for rockin up TAF New Years in michigan along with everyone else who helped with that, and more kudos to the large # of people that housed an even larger # of people in michigan, chicago, stl, and kc. personal thanks go to Vince, Christine, Cat, Harmony, Bryan, Jessica, and Jon and Jeremy Chen for my housing.

kc. you girls, despite you know, sending out your X chromosome to mess with our Y chromosomes, are pretty high quality. i think KC Girls are going to be hard to beat in terms of hospitality. Jessica, Linda, and Margo = good. and also, your moms should have named you all stacy, cuz they definitely got it going on.

i heart kc moms.

and now i sleep. wanderful.
